One Week Old!

Our little Elijah is one week old already! We are enjoying him at home. He has gained a little weight from his initial loss (3 pounds 9.3 ounces). We have to keep him very warm so he has the energy to eat. He doesn't fit into many of his clothes...in the last picture he has his legs pulled up in the sleeper, the feet are empty.
Okay, I think it is time for mommy and daddy to take a nap too :)
Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Welcome To Our World....

We would like to introduce Elijah Thomas Bailey. He is our newest little critter. He was born Tuesday morning November 13th at 9:53am.
Weighing 3 pounds 10.7 ounces
17 inches long
On Monday (Nov. 12th) we went for one of our weekly ultrasounds and then had an appointment with Dr. Goerish later that day. Well, when she walked into the appointment the first thing she said was "How ready are you to have this baby". Lets just say things were a whirl wind from there. Our baby had dropped from the 17th percentile to less then 10.
I had to be induced that day. We were taken straight over to the hospital and our journey began.

Elijah was perfectly healthy with the exception of regulating his own body temperature. Because he could not keep himself warm he had to be in an incubator for four days. During this time he was also not strong enough to eat on his own and had a feeding tube. After the four days in the incubator and starting to eat better on his own he got to come out. The next few days were spent making sure that he could stay warm on his own and gain some weight.
We got to bring our blessing home on Monday Nov. 19th. After a week in the hospital we were ready to get out and get to know our son better!
We will keep you updated with more pictures soon.

36 weeks and counting...

The last month of pregnancy! I told Philip yesterday that this is the last month of my first pregnancy I will ever have....which means I can do whatever I want :) He graciously agreed that I should be pampered. What a wonderful husband I have....Ice cream when I want it, back rubs, he even does the dishes for me :)
We have another appointment today and an ultrasound. I will put a new picture of the baby up later this week!

35 weeks

We are at 35 weeks! Things have been going fairly well. I had a wonderful Baby shower put on by my sisters this past Saturday (pictures to come). Rebecca came and stayed with us for a few days. We had fun showing her the "farm" life.
We had an ultrasound and doctors appointment this past Monday. The baby got and 8/8 on the profile! We see the doctor again tomorrow (Thursday) and have another ultrasound. How blessed I am to see our baby on my birthday; what a special present. We are continuing to prepare for the baby just in case I am induced...I had two steroid injections to help develop the baby's lungs and I think we finally are all prepared at home. Thank you again for all of your prayers! We will keep you updated.

Baby Bailey Update

Well, here is the update on Baby Bailey.....We have been seeing the doctor a little more lately and have gotten to get a lot of pictures of our baby. As most of the family knows we found out last week that the baby is underweight and our doctor would like to keep a close eye on him or her. We now go into get an ultrasound done twice a week to do a biophysical profile. The above picture is from our first one last Friday. The baby did great and got an 8/8! On Tuesday we had our second one and the baby just did not want to cooperate and move so we only got a 7/8, but of course the baby moved a lot later in the day :)
Yesterday I went in to have a non-stress test done just to make sure everything was okay (because we only got a 7). This went very well and the baby made some great movements and the heart rate went up and down great. Me, on the other hand, had some high blood pressure. The doctor told me not to work or do much for the next few days and have a recheck on Friday. I am just glad that the baby is doing well....We thank our family for all of your prayers, we can feel them. God has been so amazing through this last week. I tend to worry and feel very nervous about things, but he has put me at ease with this knowing that he is in control. Again, a lot of this has to do with those wonderful prayers...thank you!!
We have had it so easy the last 8 months and feel so blessed about that..... and to have a wonderful doctor and friends and family.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween! We hope that everyone had a safe and fun Halloween. We spent a quiet night at home carving pumpkins! It was kind of nice not to have trick or treaters this year (the dogs really like the door bell :) Patches (our cat) also enjoyed the pumpkin carving....we had trouble keeping her out of the bowel of seeds and insides.
